VEHICLE MODE: J-Five
(C-012) is based on the 500-series "shinkansen" or bullet train in Japan.
This is the first release in the Trainbots line-up. It is approximately 9" in
length, 1 ½" in height, and 1 ¼" in width. Its color scheme is blue and
white. It is the sleekest of the three trains identified on this page and has my
vote for best appearance.
There are four sets of moving wheels, a number of
green tinted passenger windows, a green tinted windshield, and the logo "500
Cybertron" imprinted on both sides of the car. Theres also a hitch at the
rear for towing other trains and a porthole under the nose so it can be towed. This
hitch also converts into a weapon that will be described below.
ROBOT MODE: The first step in J-Fives
transformation to robot mode is to separate the rear end slightly to remove the weapon and
extend the rear which forms the legs. Now separate the nose of the train which now
reveals the arms and also forms the shoulder guards. Extend the "canopy"
up, out, then down. This forms the torso of J-Five. The robots head
shouldve popped out and now needs to be rotated 180 degrees. Drop down the
arms and rotate them forward at the elbows. Next, work on the legs by rotating the
lower-half 180 degrees. The feet are formed by extending a couple of pieces; front
and rear (wheels). Lastly, extend the "hip guards" slightly so it appears
as if hes wearing a kilt. Thats about it for this mode.
His weapon is the Laser Beam Gun that is formed by
extending the green tinted barrel upward and moving the peg (handgrip) downward. It
should look like a gun at this point with the "sighting" hole extended.
One neat gimmick about this weapon is the LED light, which illuminates the barrel when a
button is depressed. That is why its called a "Laser Beam" gun. |
