TAKARA released a new mold of combiners on the 10th of August called BuildMasters.  These four construction vehicles combine to create BuildKing.  This is very colorful set which, in my opinion, really makes these figures stand out among the other Car Robots.  I have yet to find anything online which identifies the BuildMasters as being an old unused mold but the copyright stamp indicates "©2000 T.P.C./T./T.X./N." and no Hasbro stamp is noted.

VEHICLE MODE:  BuildBoy is the first vehicle which is obviously a Bulldozer with a Dark and Light Orange color scheme.  He measures approximately 3.5" in length, 2.75" in width, and 2" in height.  He is the smallest of the four figures but is the Leader of the BuildMasters.  The very first thing you notice on this vehicle is the huge Autobot symbol on the cab's roof.  This is a sticker that was already applied by the manufacturer so no sticker sheets accompanied any of the figures.

The windows are Smoke-Clear plastic and some parts, such as the tracks, are Gray.  By the way, the tracks do not move (darn!), but there are four little wheels on the underside which allow BB to roll on any surface.

ROBOT MODE:  To transform BB into robot mode isn't too difficult, but following the instructions, even with pictures, may be trying at times.   This is especially true for the other three robots.

The first step is to separate the shovel in two and flip them back 180 degrees making a figure "T".  Now separate the tracks from the dozers body folding them outward creating a letter "I".  You can go ahead and remove the Gray shovel and hydraulic pumps from the body (located at front of the vehicle).  Now separate the engine/hood by pulling it outward but not too hard or you'll remove it from the ball-in-socket joint.  Once you've separated the hood, you should see BB's legs which should be positioned as if he's doing the "splits".   Extend the Gray flaps at the front of the vehicle and extend the bottom half of his legs so that the Gray flaps are just about his knees.  Fold the legs down and rotate the lower half of the legs so they are facing forward.  Extend the Gray flaps up which now form his toes.

Here's a close up photo of BuildBoy's head.

Now working on his arms/shoulders, rotate the tracks forward creating his arms with the shovel halves now forming really high shoulder pads.   Extend the tracks upper half upward so that the elbow joints are exposed and rotate the lower half of his arms so that his fists are revealed.

The Autobot symbol is now part of his torso which is applied to the roof of the cab.  The next step is to lower the flap on his back to reveal BB's head.  Rotate his head upward and return the back flap to its original position.

The last step is to attach his shield to his fist.   The shield is was originally the gray shovel with the two orange hydraulic pumps which are flipped forward to create two cannons.  BuildBoy now stands at approximately 5" in robot mode.

BuildBoy wears an Orange helmet and his face is painted Silver and eyes are Green.  He is a well proportioned figure from the front but when he is viewed from the side, you'll notice that his torso extends a little far.  He definitely can't see his toes even if he tried :P  I like the three tones of Orange used in his color scheme vice one solid color.  I think Takara could have made better use of his shovel (vehicle mode) such as adding a joint for up/down movement.  He's a decent looking figure and leader!

NOTE:  BuildKing's head is stored in BuildBoy's torso/cab.
