The latest Deluxe Cars were released on the
14th of September, 2000 and are called "Spark Engine" Car Brothers. The
first thing you'll notice about the packaging is that it is boxed versus carded. I
actually like them boxed since you can remove a toy and return it without damaging the
packaging.
I'm not going to get into describing the
"transformation" from robot to vehicle and vice versa since I've already done
this for the original issue of the Deluxe Cars and that the only difference between the
two are its colors.
WildRide is the first of the three re-paints
or "Version2" which has a Rally car style paint job. I feel that it's an
improvement to the first issue of these Deluxe vehicles since there are more colors which
is quite appealing.

The above photo shows the packaged robot mode
of S-WildRide. The first issue of the 3 Car Brothers were in vehicle mode which is
just the opposite of Version2.
S-WildRide's colors are mainly white with
green and red. The rims and engine are now gold trimmed versus chrome giving him
that "Super" status. Another thing you'll notice is the printed
"Cybertron", "Wild 24", "Cybertron Wild", and race car
number "24" which happens to be his issued number. His tires also have "TRANSFORMERS " imprinted on them which is the same as the
first version.

I know that many collectors prefer the
original Deluxe Cars but I prefer the latter. I think Takara did a good job with the
detail, choice of colors, as well as the change in packaging. It's an overall
appealing look that I'm impressed with. |
