Gildo is the second of the Metals Beasts released in the first
wave. This figure is a re-paint of Hasbros Transmetals2 Nightglider.
Another name on the package is "Musasabi" or Giant Flying Squirrel.

The above photo shows Gildo in Beast Mode. He is
called a mecha flying squirrel.
BEAST MODE: The very first thing I noticed
about Gildo's color scheme is the silver chrome vice gold chrome compared to the photos on
the carded backing. I don't know why it is silver vice gold but it's quite strange
to make a last minute change in it's color scheme.
His head, wings, and feet are baby-blue. Parts of his back are
painted with silver and also made up of silver chrome. His front claws/arms are
light gray and some parts such as his eyes and wings are painted red
Gildo appears to be "flying" in this mode and I can't
forget to mention that the sword attachment which comes with Gildo is stored in his tail.
You can barely see it in the above photo but the handle is slightly exposed.
He has a fixed jaw in a snarl with a silver mask and his eyes are
painted red.
ROBOT MODE: To transform Gildo to robot mode
is simple. The arms are rotated down and feet are brought together. If you
look at the underside of Gildo you'll notice that most of his robot body is visible and
appears to be "spread eagle". His head is stored in his chest and needs to
be pushed up. The next step is to rotate the body upward at the swivel joint
located at its shoulder. He should appear to have his wings "flapping in the
wind" as if he's falling feet first to the ground. Now raise his arms upward so
he looks like he's flying the rotate his body downward from the swivel joint at his
shoulders. His tail is folded upward behind the wings, feet are tilted upward, and
finally head is rotated to face the front. That's it for transformation!
Both modes are quite simple to transform and I'd have to say that he
looks short & bulky. His wings are a bit large which makes him a bit top heavy.
You really have to get the stance just right or he'll topple over. |

Gildo in attack mode!

The above photos show Gildo (rear view) grabbing his
sword from the sheath on his back.

Here is a close up photo depicting his evil snarl and
red eyes.

chest in Robot Mode. |
