Lambor (04) was released in
Japan in March, 2003 and sold for ¥3,000. It is the
seventh re-issue figure
(#7) released in this new stylized packaging.
Lambor is the Japanese name for this figure but many of you recognize
him as Sideswipe. I'll use the Japanese name Lambor's throughout
this review keeping with previous reviews.
The box is made of corrugated cardboard with a front flap that is
secured by two strips of velcro. The box
is mostly White with Light
Blue trim and measures
8.75"Hx6.75"Wx2.375"D. The
"Transformers" lettering is embossed on the front
along with the anime Lambor created by Dreamwave Productions.
The writing on the ends of the
box (front & sides) allow it to be displayed on a
shelf in different ways, horizontally &
vertically. The top & bottom is mostly printed in English
and each side panel can be displayed vertically or horizontally.
The horizontal panel is mostly in English whereas the
vertical is mostly in Japanese characters.

Opening the flap reveals several things--a
nice layout with parts secured in a
molded plastic container and data cards attached to the backside of the
front flap. The cellophane cover is framed nicely with an
Autobot symbol on the front/top and "Lambor" printed on the
front/bottom.

The backdrop is Blue
with Lambor's name above the toy and Collection
7 below it.
At the very bottom of the backdrop is "Transformers". Each
accessory/weapon has a label either above or below the part.
The card catalog is almost entirely in Japanese with
most of the page titles in English. The index page is glued to the
front cover of the box and outlines the contents of the card catalog.
This catalog can be removed from the box due to the perforated edge
and can be stored in a 6-ring binder.

into the peg hole on either
fist in Robot Mode.

VEHICLE MODE:
Lambor is a Lamborghini Countach LP500S vehicle with
a Red color scheme and comprised of both plastic and die-cast metal
(rear wheel panels). The tires are made of rubber and attached to
the chrome-painted wheel hubs. Lambor rolls
freely and smoothly on any surface.
There are a few stickers pre-applied at the factory
which is identified in all of my photos on this page. The
front of the car has two stickers replicating headlights
with the words "rally racing" printed just below each
light. Lambor's rub-sign is
located underneath the left-front fairing and the overall measurements
are 4.75"Lx1.75"Wx1.5"H
in vehicle mode.
I also have the Sideswipe Collector's Edition and noticed that the Black
parts (roof & side doors) normally has stickers applied, but in Lambor's
case it was replaced with Black paint. This is an improvement
since the stickers are more likely to fall off.
VEHICLE MODE

ROBOT MODE: To transform
Lambor into robot mode,
begin with extending the front-end of the car which separates
just behind the doors. The front tires/axles need to be pulled out to
create the shoulders and arms. I found it easier to rotate the doors
downward and gripping them near the axles while pulling them outward.
Now rotate the hood downward which separates from the windshield and
roof and now becomes his torso. Lift up the roof so that you have room
to rotate his head forward. Take the roof, which has two joints, and
rotate it up so that it fits snug just behind his head. Pull apart the
rear axles which leaves about a 1/4 inch gap between them creating the
lower-half of his legs. There are two Silver parts which need to be
pulled downward and locked into place creating his feet. The last step
is to rotate his arms upward so that you can attach his weapons. Insert the
Rocket into the Rocket Launcher
and attach it to either shoulder. To release the
projectile, press on the Red lever. Finally, insert the Laser
Gun into the peg hole on either fist. Lambor stands at
4.25"Hx3.75"Wx2.25"D.
ROBOT MODE

In Robot Mode, you can see more of the chrome-painted parts such as his
arms and feet as well as the tip of his Rocket Launcher.
Lambor
has a Black helmet with Silver paint applied to his face and the top of
his helmet as well as Blue eyes. As mentioned in the Sideswipe
review, Lambor has one of the most detailed heads of all the re-issues
I've seen and is just awesome!
Articulation is very limited with this figure--his arms bend at the
elbow and shoulder...sound familiar? Even with his limited articulation, I still think he's an excellent
figure to add to your collection!
